From personal journal: DragonMaster 616

By our arrangement, the four of us- Terry, Vokun, Tyxamous and I quietly rose at sunup to meet with our course “performers” a group of some four individuals provided to us by DOG404. They would impersonate a group of rouge, possibly even feral or Hierarchy dragons.

We four would pose as having been overpowered, once again leaving our students in the drivers seat as to how to defend themselves, surviving.

The four gave us our disguises, just a series of nets, the type that can be fired from net-guns, to wear wrapped over ourselves. I volunteered to actually have mine applied from said gun, so the students could see it happen, give them a stronger impression that they were being isolated for capture.

Returning to the camp site, we had to hurry , our class was stirring. Tyxamous and Vokun wrapped up in their nets, as Terry moved to concealment to observe and grade the test.

One of them stood near me as he pulled the pins of two flash-bangs while the other three activated smoke bombs, tossing them into the nearby brush to get the battle going.

From Journal of Bryce Dragonbac:

Like the rest, I had turned in pretty early. There was not much to do here, we had to leave our laptops plus game consoles back at the airfield. It didn’t matter much because we were really tired the first night. Sleep was deep and sound with the morning sun just starting to switch us to the lighter sleep, but none of us ready to get up until the “adults” were.

Booooom! Rawrrrrrrr, we have YOU now.....! Booom! I rolled over but couldn’t believe what I was seeing. A strange looking dragon, unclothed but wearing a costume made of bones along with a belt of crude plus some modern weapons. There were more of them coming as I made for the cover of a tree stand. I looked over to see Dragon Master616 try and take on the intruders but get flattened by a net gun, as he sagged down, one of the dragons hit him with an injector gun, it looked like they drugged him. I was horrified to see even the immense frame of Vokunkronah netted and subdued, along with Tyxamous, probably Terry too.

Standing there crouched and frozen, not wanting to confront them, but to shrink into the underbrush which I began to do until ...”Freeze!” from behind me. An Orange quadraped my size was there holding a spear up, grimacing at me.

Putting my claws over my head plus reaching back, they touched a tree. Instead of clasping them behind my head, I felt the tree, it was about 4” or 5” around, maybe flexible enough, we’ll see. I was not ready to see what Tony the Tiger here had in store for me. I clasped them behind the tree then leaned over, putting all of my strength and weight into it. The tree bent over nicely, crowned him atop his head with a very audible clunk , sending him loopy.

I was angry, also not wanting to be pursued so I kept the tree bent over to smack him aside his face, then hooked it under his shoulder belt to release it. The tree acted like a catapult, throwing him past my head to land on a heap behind where I was. as soon as his feet left the ground, I was running - then flying low, making for .... Where should I be going? I didn’t care, I just knew that if someone did to me what I had delivered him, I might take it personally, even mortally. Off I went until maybe some miles away. Although far, I crouched to hide on landing.

Then I remembered our group, someone has to be told about this. I was wearing my dravicom so turned it on getting a boot screen then menu. Setting up to talk I remembered the emergency channel then keyed the mic-

“This is Bryce, part of Chaparral group, emergency, we have been ambushed!”

“Understood Bryce, put the Dravicom up so we can see you!” said a voice- it was Rex!

Both Rex along with Major Firefang were there, looking back.

“Bryce, press your locator button, now so we can fix your position,” said the Major. I pressed it

“I pressed it, now what do I do?” I said

Rex replied, “We will have para rescue troops there in 30 to 40 minutes, you have to continue to avoid them until then. Report back to us in 45 minutes. OUT!”

I switched off while finding a better hide next. That 45 minutes seemed like forever, I so wanted to fight back - to try to help the rest, but instead escaped. Soon I might know what had happened, had I abandoned them to being dragged away as slaves or worse?

At the time agreed, I switched on again, to find Rex with the Major on one screen then Terry with DM in a separate window, all smiling! ohhhh Man! It was another @#$%^& test! I was instructed to return to the camp site.

From Journal of Terranor Harper McVey:

We had everyone gathering back at the camp site, just two left to go, I was asking everyone to be quiet until we could compare notes. Soon Crazikc arrived by walking, he had kept close by after disappearing, The last in was Bryce Dragonbac who flew in after being 5 miles out! He even had fashioned a spear and clenched it until he landed then planted it into the dirt in the middle as he walked up to me. “Terry, I was just...” I smiled, telling him it was all right, we’ll all trade our stories now, just sit for now, listen and be quiet. He seated with the group.

I called out “Gentlemen, if you would please join us!” In response the four dragons from 404, our assailants came out from behind the brush. The kids jumped a bit nervously but they all calmed down as they saw everyone smiling, including those four. We all sat into our traditional circle.

Negadrake said “How did we do coach?” to which I said “Lets go over first what each individual did, then we’ll discuss the group results.”

“First of all, we gave you a really worst case scenario, surprise attack at dawn, teachers plus adults out of action, just you on your own. HOWEVER, this is how rogue or hierarchy dragons fight, as well as humans who are Dragonslayers.” I continued.

In this kind of situation, there are the four points to remember, as we discussed in class. There is RUN, REPORT, RUMBLE, RETURN, but not always in that order or emphasis.

Ok, lets start with RUN, everybody was good here, in fact- none of you allowed yourself to be taken, even with net guns. When they attempted to take you, each made use of abilities, elements and mayhem.

Zorath led Abria to safety using a darkness camouflage plus deterring one attacker with an ice barrage.

Negadrake just plain outran everyone, while we thought that Aria had too, but she in fact used dragon-do to cloak plus stayed near enough to broacast the dravicom camera of the site on the emergency channel. If it were an actual abduction, the first responders would use the broadcast to both home in on plus prepare to encounter your attackers.

Bryce had an attacker give him special attention but got a headache in return while Bryce also used his locator as he kept in control. Crazikc also had a direct pursuer but repelled him with a good element counterattack.

Finally there was Sturalkhe and Ignis, who were hit by a net gun but burned and clawed out easily, with both getting a further encounter with their assailants - knocking them down then out pacing both.

RUN was excellent along with REPORT. One thing that we left blank was to see if any of you would join together using your radio gear plus try to organize, maybe even RETURN and retake your camp. None of you took initiative, although when we answered your radio messages, we left it up to you.

“I thought that we should keep from being taken,” said Negadrake.

“You did, but what if your friends were not so lucky?” replied DM.

On RUMBLE, each of you seemed to be using your own style and abilities as needed. We would have to assume that you could do the same if further attackers faced you or one of you decided to mount a counterattack.

“So with everything totaled together, the grade is 70 percent- BARELY passing,” Said DM.

“What we can do is give you some extra lessons on defence plus attack during the last two class days, while Sierra does their Away’ course,” I noted.

We began Breakfast as we all swapped stories along with ideas. I did remind the more unhappy of them that members of DOG404 train for weeks and then repeatedly to keep current. For a group of students with a week of training, they had done fairly well. Needless to say, a lesser attacker like a class bully would be no problem for any of them now. The same sequence would apply with one item added. RESTRAINT, RUN, REPORT, RUMBLE, RETURN.

RESTRAINT - or put the situation in perspective, how many are against you? Run or Rumble?

RUN - if you can, always the easiest option. Discretion is the better form of valor.

RUMBLE - if you cannot run, defend yourself along with your friends, try not to kill, if possible.

REPORT - obviously, there is zero tolerance for what they do.

RETURN - as in ‘do not let them deter you from your education or other activities’ you have as much right or more to be there -as they do.

As the breakfast finished I announced that a aero part of the class was next, a 12 hour distance flight with students doing navigation and using an instrument hood, so they could not use landmarks, just D-com. We would go East to cross the “four corners” where the four states abutted , take in a few miles of Colorado then turn South to go through most of Western New Mexico.
